URGENT COMMUNICATION

Dear Club Secretary

It is with deep regret that I write this letter, but feel I have no alternative.

I have just been on the Coventry and Warwickshire League web site, and to my horror the following messages have been posted regarding the updating of the league results.

•3 games in this year and still no results. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE!!!!!!!!! Does anyone else feel the same???

•I know, poor organisation! other organisation do not seem to have this issue!

•I'm glad i'm not the only one who is frustrated with the lack of updated results!! Other sports/leagues seem able to update their fixtures almost immediately - it's not rocket science is it??

The message board was not added to the web site this year for this sort of abuse aimed at the League Committee, it was suppose to assist clubs looking for players, coaches and umpires.

Should I find any more messages posted abusing the Committee the message board will be removed.

I remind you that we are all unpaid volunteers who give up many hours to support this League, and in the last 6 years I am sure the majority of its members will agree it is a League which has progressed significantly.

As a league I know we have discussed on more than one occasion the possibility of having paid positions, however to date we have managed to avoid this with the goodwill of our volunteers.

After this issue I will however be recommending that the Executive Committee positions be paid from the start of next season.

This will obviously have a knock on effect to your affiliation fee with the Coventry League which is currently £13.00 for a full time over 18 player and £10.50 for an under 18 full time player (from the full registration fee paid at the start of the season). For this small amount of money you receive a handbook containing all the details required, a web site which has an annual cost associated to it, trophies at the end of the season and all the admin costs associated with running any organization. Last year we even managed to secure Lottery Funding of £10,000 for coaching courses which many clubs have benefited from.

All of this hard work takes lots of time and effort and we have to date all been happy to fit this in around our full time paid employment and home lives. I just hope when I discuss this at the next committee meeting I do not receive any resignations from my committee members, who I rely on heavily to ensure the smooth running of the league.
